The Caradon Hill area has one of the greatest concentrations of Scheduled Monuments in the country and forms part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. Part of the area lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with most of the remainder designated an Area of Great Landscape Value.
The area covers approx 58 square miles to the north of Liskeard, centred around Caradon Hill, which is part of the granite upland of the south eastern portion of Bodmin Moor, and including lowland areas surrounding the hill.
It extends as far south as Liskeard. Its western edge includes Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve, and it runs as far eastwards as the River Lynher. Some 10,500 people live in the area in settlements including Pensilva, St Cleer, Minions, Upton Cross and part of Liskeard.
